You trek late at night through the forest with your friend. Suddenly there is a thunderous crack! He falls to the ground dead and you hear an orchestra of triumphant howls and laughter from every direction in the dark, even above you.

More than half a million years ago, humans learned how to throw. This very soon put us on the top of the food chain. This derived carnivorous primate went for the same hunting method, not through innovation but by evolution. It is native to the continent of Armageddon. Similarly to the archer fish, it uses its ability to throw rocks far and precisely to kill anything between a bird and a deer. Its wide and clawed feet give it great traction and stability like a grounded trebuchet. Its muscular tail could also help with stability like a tripod but can also add to the momentum.

Due to their preferred hunting method, they try to avoid direct contact or confrontation with anything. They like to spend their time during the day in small hidden valleys or among the tree canopies, given that they are excellent climbers.

Because of their reclusive nature, for a long time, people didn’t even know that they were dealing with actual blood and flesh animals. For the most part, the legends were talking of evil spirits of the forest who watch your every step and make rocks or branches float and speed like cannon balls.

Well…they weren’t too far off.

It’s actually best if you can’t see them, because, if you cornered one enough for direct contact to be possible, at that point nothing will save you from their incredibly powerful arms and the slaps of their taloned hands.
